What is it?
Challenge team utilizes technology in their idea for a solution. The team sets out to produce a mobile app with Google Maps integration with the software they will develop and the technological work they will carry out. The team, who aim to reach their target audience via this app, will gather data through feedback and pinning. By means of this data, it will be possible to view in real time empty park spaces on the streets and in parking lots. It is aimed that the most convenient parking spots will be found by making this data available to the user. As a consequence of this, the team aims to reduce traffic and the emission of harmful gases and thereby improve urban life in Istanbul.
Why?
With the rise in individual car ownership, the parking problem has become one of the major transportation issues of modern-day large cities. The daily observable increase in automobile numbers is also supported by data: according to a TÜİK report from July 2018, there are 4,167,889 registered motor vehicles in İstanbul. This being the case, the parking issue of these vehicles becomes an equation to be solved. Simply being able to find a parking spot when we get to work or school is reason enough to feel like it’s a lucky day. Most of the time, we spend a considerable amount of time and energy to park our cars. So how can we solve this problem which is encountered by 4,167,889 people presumably very often?
